Written by the Bass Lake History Committee, This Is Bass Lake presents an authentic telling of our beloved west Michigan lake, weaving together narratives of voices past and present and offering a nostalgic look at treasured summer traditions.

Though this book tells the story of Bass Lake, its themes are familiar to anyone who loves Michigan lakes. The connection to nature, the joy of summer traditions, cherished family cottages, and the bonds formed across generations are experiences shared by lake communities all over the state. This Is Bass Lake celebrates that timeless spirit — and invites readers to reflect on the special places they return to year after year.

BLPOA members can view additional photos and historical material on the This Is Bass Lake tab. For decades, photos, newspaper articles and other historically significant information relating to Bass Lake have been boxed up and passed down. These treasures have been saved but rarely shared. Our goal is to continue telling the Bass Lake story by expanding this online collection.
